who i am

Welcome to Kurialacherry House, your home away from home in the backwaters of Alappuzha District in the Indian State of Kerala. A short taxi or tuk-tuk ride from Alappuzha (aka Alleppey) into the countryside, Kurialacherry House offers a comfortable modern and private retreat in a traditional village setting, perfectly integrated into the lush tropical environment.

The Kurialacherry House homestay offers 3 guest cottages tastefully appointed with antiques highlighting the original grandeur of this 80-year-old family compound on the banks of the Pookaitha River.

Providing the very best that a homestay in Alleppey can offer, Kurialacherry House provides a calm and serene atmosphere with its exotic and lush riverfront location amidst emerald green paddy fields. Delight in the sounds of abundant nature, the taste of delicious homemade Kerala cuisine, and the friendly family atmosphere. Kurialacherry House is the ideal retreat into the soothing lap of nature and a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Venerable Thomas Kurialacherry (January 14, 1873 – February 6, 1925) was a member of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, and was the first bishop, of what would become the Archdiocese of Changanassery. He also founded the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. In 1935, ten years after his death, his Cause of Canonisation was initiated giving him the title "Servant of God". On April 2, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI, in an audience with Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, approved (along with the advancement of many other sainthood causes) a statement saying that Bishop Kurialachery had lived a life of heroic virtue. This gave him the additional title of "Venerable".

This room is mainly for Honeymooners with a small private garden and open shower. In front of this room, you can see the pond with Lotus Flowers. Also you can see the paddy field and the river view.

This was the only room in our property, when we started the home stay. This room is more than 100 year old. Built entirely in wood, this room was our rice granary which stored rice from our own paddy field. This also has an open shower and an open varandha with river view.

This room is very much closer to the bank of river and constructed with half wood and half bricks. Room have an upper deck which is facing to the river. It also has open shower.
